Report: TitanHQ Unveils ‘State of Email Security 2025’

TitanHQ, a leader in email security for over two decades, is set to launch its annual report titled “State of Email Security in 2025” on March 26th. Commissioned by TitanHQ and conducted by Osterman Research in February 2025, the study examines fresh threat intelligence and responses from over 250 IT professionals across the US, Canada, UK, and the EU. This comprehensive report highlights the latest tactics employed by cybercriminals to breach organizations, shedding light on the most pressing email security threats in the current landscape.

The study surveyed IT professionals working in organizations with 100 to 1,000 employees, or those employed at managed service providers (MSPs) responsible for email security strategies. All respondents used Microsoft 365 as their primary cloud email platform, ensuring the report offers a cross-industry perspective from professionals actively engaged in email security management. The findings of the report indicate that organizations can no longer rely on outdated defenses to protect against evolving cyber threats.

Key areas of focus in the report include Credential Harvesting, the use of Natural Language Processing (NLP), AI in Cybersecurity, emerging threat trends, and predictions for 2025. The report identifies alarming developments in phishing techniques, the rising influence of offensive AI, and the increasing sophistication of cyberattacks. One significant takeaway from the study is that the threat dynamics are expected to either stay the same or worsen over the next year, making constant vigilance and up-to-date security solutions more crucial than ever.

Key findings from the report reveal that 79% of organizations experienced at least one cybersecurity incident in the past 12 months, with half of them facing 2 to 4 different types of incidents. Furthermore, 93% of respondents acknowledged that email remains a constantly evolving area of threat, requiring ongoing updates to security strategies. In 2025, the top email security priorities for organizations include defending against AI-enhanced attacks, deepfake audio and video threats, phishing, account takeovers, and the exfiltration of data for extortion.

Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks are a significant concern, with one in five organizations reporting financial losses due to BEC in the past year. The report forecasts that BEC threats will intensify in 2025, with over half of respondents expecting an increase in BEC attacks targeting their organizations.

Ronan Kavanagh, CEO of TitanHQ, stated, “The report uncovers alarming trends in the evolving landscape of email security threats for 2025, particularly the rise of offensive AI, which is increasing the sophistication and volume of cyberattacks.” He emphasized that organizations must adopt advanced AI defenses to stay ahead of these evolving threats. As cybercriminals continue to adapt their tactics, businesses must remain proactive to protect against high-profile breaches and incidents.

The “State of Email Security in 2025” report is essential reading for cybersecurity teams and MSPs aiming to stay ahead of emerging threats. It offers valuable insights and strategies to strengthen an organization’s security posture in the face of increasing cyber risks. For a full analysis of the findings, visit TitanHQ’s website.
