Is A CISO’s Role Often Concluding?

The CISOs were always a significant part of an enterprise. However, over the years, the role of CISOs underwent a strategic and operational change. As a result, almost three months into 2023, the CISOs have become more critical than ever.

The changing responsibilities of a CISO’s role is an exciting topic in the tech world. Also, another evident trend is that the role of a CISO could be terminal.

The worldwide 2022 CISO (Chief Information Security Officer)Survey hints at the possibility of the role being terminal. A significant percentage of the CISOs in the survey were previously in other CISO roles.

The survey collected information about organizations and pay  in the spring of 2022. More than 300 CISOs were part of the survey.

Mostly, the career path forward is to another CISO role. This is because CISOs enjoy a kind of assurance about better job security. Moreover, the professionals can be assured of a lucrative package. Also, the new roles and responsibilities extend unparalleled opportunities for growth and development.  

“In the United States, reported median cash CISO compensation has risen to $584,000 this year, up from $509,000 last year and $473,000 in 2020. In addition, the median total compensation, including any annualized equity grants or long-term incentives, also increased to $971,000 from $936,000,” informs the survey.
