Barracuda Networks has announced enhanced efficacy for its Email Protection platform and new AI innovations to better defend against emerging threats. Barracuda’s research, based on phishing email detections from January 2024 to April 2024, reveals that using Microsoft 365 native security alone results in a 47% miss rate. This rate increases for more sophisticated attacks: Microsoft business email compromise detection has a 70% miss rate, while conversation hijacking attacks are missed 87% of the time. Barracuda’s Email Protection is designed to complement Microsoft 365 security, offering additional layers of defense against complex email threats.
Neal Bradbury, Chief Product Officer at Barracuda, stated, “We’re dedicated to providing our customers with top-notch defenses against evolving threats. Our investment in AI since 2017 has allowed us to block millions of additional threats daily. Our email protection solutions support both managed service providers and end-user customers, continuously innovating to tackle threats like business email compromise with unmatched efficacy.”
Barracuda Email Protection utilizes AI models that continuously release new classifiers to detect emerging threats. According to Barracuda’s analysis, their AI-enabled solutions block 99.2% of targeted phishing attacks without requiring manual configuration, saving time and IT resources for customers and managed service providers. Key recent advancements include superior detection efficacy with machine learning classifiers, which now block an additional 2.3 million attacks daily and have increased spoofing attack detections by 150%. Enhanced user experience features include real-time reporting for actionable threat intelligence, improved data privacy with an upgraded policy engine and custom classifiers in Barracuda Data Inspector, and expanded international presence with data residency support in India.
